The documentation which accompanies this program is horribly out of date, having not been update since the DaocSkilla v1 branch. This document will help you get up and running on DaocSkilla 2. =============== Getting Started =============== Single PC - In this mode, daocskilla will display on the same machine you play Dark Age on. You'll probably want to play in windowed mode since DaocSkilla runs in its own window. -- Unzip daocskilla into its own directory, using the "Use folder names" option in winzip. -- Launch DStreamServerTest.exe -- Launch DaocSkilla.exe -- If Dark Age is not installed in C:\Mythic\Isles you'll be prompted for the path to where Dark Age is installed. DaocSkilla needs the client data files to know where the zones are, what skills there are, etc. -- If DaocSkilla does not list "localhost" under the "DStream Server List", click the "Add" link under the list and type "localhost" in the box. -- Launch Dark Age Dual PC - In this mode, daocskilla will display on another machine (DISPLAY) from the one you play on (PLAY). -- (PLAY) Unzip daocskilla into its own directory, using the "Use folder names" option in winzip. -- (PLAY) Launch DStreamServerTest.exe -- (DISPLAY) Unzip daocskilla into its own directory, using the "Use folder names" option in winzip. -- (DISPLAY) Launch DaocSkilla.exe -- (DISPLAY) If Dark Age is not installed in C:\Mythic\Isles ON THE DISPLAY MACHINE you'll be prompted for the path to where Dark Age is installed. You can use a mapped drive to your PLAY machine here, but DaocSkilla may load slowly as it needs to load client data files. -- (DISPLAY) Either edit the "localhost" entry under the "DStream Server List" or add a new server. Enter the name of your PLAY machine. -- (DISPLAY) You should see your DStream Server entry go to "Connected". If it does not, you may need to use the IP address of the PLAY machine. Also make sure Windows XP isn't firewalling the PLAY machine on port 9867. -- (PLAY) Launch Dark Age ===== F.A.Q ===== Q1. It doesn't work! A1. I am not actively developing DaocSkilla, I only updated it as part of the "Come Back to Camelot" campaign. If Mythic has changed the game.dll, there is a chance DaocSkilla won't work any more. Q2. Is it detectable? A2. Yes. I take very few steps to hide myself from an active probe, so this is most certainly detectable. However, I have quickly perused the game.dll disassembly and can say I do not believe there is code to detect daocskilla. Use at your own risk though. Q3. Can I get banned for using DaocSkilla? A3. Without a doubt. Even if the process itself is completely undetectable, there is always a chance that YOU can get yourself detected using radar. There are urban legends that say Mythic has a way of "drawing out" radar users, using some sort of decoy or usage pattern. I've never seen this. Q4. WTF? Where are the other players? They're not on the radar. A4. Yeah I think when Catacombs came out, the player packet was changed. I haven't looked into it, and I don't really care. You're welcome to fix it and submit a patch. Q5. I bought this on eBay and I want my money back. A5. Can you please phrase that as a question? Q6. I bought this on eBay. Can I have my money back? A6. DaocSkilla is provided free of charge and is open source: http://excalibar.sourceforge.net/ If you paid anything, you bought it from a third party who totally screwed you. Good luck getting your money back; next time use Google instead of eBay as your search engine.
